FANFARE The Magazine

Greater Pittsburgh region's guide to sophisticated lifestyle issues. FANFARE The Magazine is born of a well respected, weekly special section of the Tribune-Review newspaper written by Jean Horne, an insider with the fashionable circles of Pittsburgh society. Though it is inspired by the newspaper column, FANFARE The Magazine is an independent and unique product.

Our premiere issue of this seasonal magazine will be direct mailed Fall 2005 into the most affluent community homes. Our target audience is educated, over 35 years of age, own a home valued at over $500,000, and an annual income of $250,000 or more.

The greater Pittsburgh region is flourishing with a spectrum of media competition in TV, radio, alternative periodicals, magazines, and one of the few two newspaper markets left in our nation. With four seasonal issues scheduled for 2006 in such a highly competitive market, it is imperative that we are discerning in our selection of articles.

What we are looking for

FANFARE The Magazine prefers writers with published magazine experience who infuse local flavor with their work. It's important to note that TRIB TOTAL MEDIA already covers the facts of local issues every day in the Tribune-Review newspaper. Magazine readers expect more than what they'd get in their newspaper - therefore your articles must elevate issues that matter to them most, in a stylish and entertaining way that offers compelling, well reasoned, educated, and unique perspectives.

The sophisticated nature of this publication and the audience it serves demands a higher standard of quality from our writers and their work. Your work should be impeccable and:

  • Have distinct ties to Pittsburgh and surrounding communities
  • Avoid writing in the first person
  • Be well organized
  • Clearly communicated and poised
  • Have a beginning, middle, and end. (No inverted pyramid style articles)
